Developing Dreaming as a skill
In the previous article, we discussed how Dreaming isn't limited to the realm of sleep; it is a powerful tool that drives us to envision a brighter future and set meaningful goals. In this article, we'll explore the ways to develop dreaming as goal setting—a process that empowers us to turn our deepest desires into actionable objectives.
Let’s dive into the steps for developing Dreaming as a skill:
Admit to yourself you want a better life - This is a big one and that is why it is so important. You need to be honest with yourself and admit that you want better for yourself than what you have now. This doesn’t make you “better than” others, ungrateful for what you have, or undeserving of a better life. All these statements are limiting beliefs, designed to keep you in your comfort zone. But that isn’t working for you anymore, is it?
Figure out your desires - Depending on the stage you are in life, you would feel a different level of connection with yourself. That defines the level of awareness of what you truly desire. It is important to know what you truly want for your goals to be achievable. Imagine someone has the power to make you speak your inner desires. What will you answer, if they ask what you truly desire? For more tips on figuring out your desires, you can check out this article.
Remind yourself that you deserve a better life - Every living being has the right to happiness. And that looks different for everyone. You are a valuable human that deserves to live the life of your dreams. And you have the power to achieve that.
Formulate a goal - Once you are aware of your desires, let’s turn them into goals. Create a mental vision of your desires coming to life. Example: I love flowers and desire to be surrounded by nature. I also love traveling. Then my dream is to travel to Indonesia and explore the nature of the islands. That example can look different for everyone. Here I just show you how to connect desires to realistic goals.
Share it out loud - Share your goals with your friends and family. Express out loud what your goals are and put it out into the universe. Talk about it in detail. The more you talk about it, the more real it will feel and you increase the connection to that goal.
Think of what is the smallest action you can take toward that goal - Once you have your goal set, think what is the smallest action you can take right now that will bring you closer to your goal tomorrow than you were today.
