Four reasons why the Law of Attraction is not working for you and what to do about it.
Updated: May 4
I often hear people who constantly imagine their dream life but don’t get it. They are not in favor of the law of attraction because their dreams don’t come true no matter how much they imagine them. There are also others, I was one of them, that try to make Vision boards and believe, but end up taking those visions off the wall because they don’t see it working out. So dear reader, with this article, I will dive into four reasons why the law of attraction is not working for you.
#1 You are stuck in beliefs and patterns that don’t serve you.
Daily, we produce about 60 000 thoughts a day. Around 90% of those thoughts are the same ones we had yesterday. Thoughts are the ingredients that form our beliefs, habits and can affect our mood. I invite you to think about your thoughts. What type of thoughts can you remember having in a day? Have your thoughts influence your mood at the time of having them? How did that affect the rest of your day?
The basic principle of the Law of Attraction is “what you think and believe, you manifest.” It’s as simple as that. This means that you will attract positive things if you have mostly positive thoughts throughout the day. If you have negative, doubtful thoughts during the day, you will attract negative ones. Considering that our thoughts are mostly repetitive, the type of energy our thoughts carry in a day is transferred to the next day. And this is how our lives go forward, a day at a time.
If you have noticed the type of thoughts you have during the day, I invite you to think of their source, the reason for these thoughts. The most common reason for negative thoughts is trauma. Childhood traumas are more complex and challenging to spot if you are not looking for them. Adult trauma can also be complex, but because we are mature, we are more aware that we are traumatized. Trauma forms beliefs and behavioral patterns that create negativity in our day-to-day life. Victimizing is also part of this. You are victimizing yourself if you say/think things like:
“This always happens to me.”
“I am the unluckiest person in the world. There’s nothing good in my life.”
“Life is unfair to me.”
“Everything works out for everyone, but not for me.”
“That’s just how I am.”
To use the Law of Attraction for your benefit, it is necessary to spot them and work on shifting your perspective and finding new ways to deal and react to your everyday.
#2 You don’t let go of bad habits/people
Your environment is a reflection of yourself. As humans, it is only natural to surround ourselves with people and situations and get affected by them.
However, as we grow up, our primary caretakers, or lack thereof, create that environment for us. We get used to it and grow up with that as our base for the world. What often happens is that we take that environment with us and subconsciously re-create it in the lives we built as adults.
If you are surrounded by toxic people and circumstances that bring you to stress, the Law of Attraction will not work for you. One sub-condition of the Law of Attraction is that “If you ask from a place of stress, you will not receive. If you ask from a place of peace, you will receive.” This means that when we communicate our wishes to the universe and imagine our best lives, we need to be calm, relaxed, and grounded, and most of all, GRATEFUL.
“Abundance comes to those who have it.”
If you are coming home from a stressful job, extremely tired and in a bad mood, and you ask the universe for a better job, you most probably will not get anything back.
To get the Law of Attraction in your favor, let go of people and situations that do not bring you joy. This can be extremely difficult because it may be all we know. And it is terrifying to let go of the familiar and go into the unknown and uncertain. It is a challenge. And it is up to you if you want to take it or not.
I believe that all people have the power to do it if they really want to. If you are strong enough to want a better future for yourself and be aware of that wish, you can undoubtedly make a choice and let go of what is pulling you back. I guarantee you that it is worth it!
#3 You don’t honestly believe in (your) happiness
Belief is an essential thing when it comes to the Law of attraction. If there is even the slightest doubt in your dreams happening, they won’t. The universe is sneaky like that and can sense doubt even in the smallest, hidden drawers of the mind. Sometimes it can sense it even before you are aware of it.
I had this happen to me several times, where I had some goals in mind and was putting effort into their manifestation, but they did not come to life. When I got my first dream come true, I realized that there was still skepticism lurking in the back of my mind, even though I was very hopeful and attempting to achieve my goals. It was also my traumas and toxic environment that was pulling me back then.
You have to honestly believe that you are capable and deserving of living your best life and also believe that you can get it. Believe with your mind, body, and soul! Having only one to two is not enough. You have to believe with all three.
Trust yourself, and as Eckhart Tolle says, believe that “you are not small, you are more beyond your perception of yourself.” Surrounding yourself with people that can aid that mindset is also a game-changer.
#4 You are not flexible
Now, let’s say you have a Vision board set up or have written down some things you want. You believe and think positively and seem to do everything right, but you do not get it. Then the reason might be that you are trying too hard and are not open to what is presented to you.
Sometimes the universe does not give us what we want in the exact form we asked for. That is why it is essential to be open to receiving everything that comes your way because you might get what you want but in a different form and not in the way you imagined it.
A simple example from my own life is that I had a fantastic sound system on my Vision board. I love music and had always imagined a house with great speakers. I had the following picture on my Vision board:

This picture, for me, is a perfect representation of what I wanted to have in my living room. About four months after creating my Vision board, I got into a relationship, and my partner has a great sound system in his living room. Moving forward, I moved in with him, and we both enjoy the speakers every day. For me, this is my vision coming true.
This is what I mean by being open to what comes to you. The universe is creative, and if I had been highly focused on buying my own house and getting my sound system, this dream would still be on the board, and I would not be as happy as I am now.
I hope this helps on your journey of manifesting your dreams!
Lots of love, Stefani
