I recently had a session with a client where we reviewed her progress from when we started working together. And she said something that stood out to me so much, I want to share it with you.
As we revisited her initial concerns and fears, she said that her acceptance of her current situation and the peace that comes with it gives her the power to move forward with change. How amazing is that?! My clients are such wise, beautiful people.
This all got me thinking about the power of Acceptance and I remembered the phrase "The first step to solving a problem is admitting you have a problem". Whenever I heard this, my focus would go to THE PROBLEM. But what if we switched that a little bit and focused on THE ACCEPTANCE?
A lot of our struggles come from trying to be different, live differently, and be with different people. And there is nothing wrong with that in itself. However, if we don't learn to accept how and where we are in the present, our current reality (good or bad) how can we peacefully live in the future, we strive so hard to achieve?
